Broadspire/Aetna Sickness Benefits
Hi Brothers and Sisters,
I'm not sure if this is good news or bad. BroadSpire, your supplemental sickness benefit provider, has been bought by Aetna but will still be administered by the same people that worked for Broadspire. When Provident handled your payments they were like clockwork and never missed a beat if you kept everything up-to-date. The current provider is almost impossible to deal with. From what I've been told they are now under investigation for terminating payments, not paying on time and for under paying benefits. Many people are not being paid the amount they are suppose to be receiving, including myself. There are now over 100 documented cases of these problems. I have been in contact with Nancy Woods at the District 19 Lodge numerous times over the past several months. The people at BS/Aet. do not follow any rules that I can see. You have stay on top of things or you will never know when you are going to get paid. If you miss their so called deadline for getting paid they will delay payment by 2 weeks. Who knows when this deadline is, I've gotten 3 different answers from them. I have a couple of phone numbers that can get you some help in getting paid. I've never heard people give more excuses than these people have about why, how or when they are suppose to send your payments. I was also told I could not get direct deposit which was also not true from what I have learned recently. You can get a different answer from everyone you speak to. If you need Nancy's number or the supposed trouble-shooter at BS/Aetna please email or contact me. What I did was call BS/Aet. after receiving my payment from RRB to see if my payment has been approved, if it's not I call the trouble-shooter and demand that it be flagged for payment. Hopefully the Union, RRB and the Carriers will get this situation straightened out soon but don't bank on it. I've had no problems at all with getting paid by RRB and they have been more than helpful with any questions I have had. Also Nancy at District 19 has always been available for anything that may have come up, she has been most helpful and supportive. From what Nancy has told me I'm one of the luckier ones as far as my payment is concerned, I'm getting more than most of the others but like I said earlier I'm still not getting what I'm suppose to be receiving.
